The VoIP Internet phone has become the ‘in’ thing in the field of Information Technology today. So, what is this VoIP and why has it become so important?

In its simplest form, VOIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is something that allows you to make telephone calls to anywhere in the world, through your own Personal Computer that has a broadband internet connection. With the VoIP facility, your sound input is transformed into a digital signal, to enable it to travel to the person at the other end. With the VoIP internet phone service, PC to PC calls are, of course, completely free, but you can also use this technique to make worldwide calls from your PC to a landline, mobile phone or even a USB VoIP Phone. The PC to landline facility comes at a very minimal charge, almost nothing, compared to traditional PSDN rates. Besides, the sound quality of this free internet phone VoIP telephony is so amazing, it gives one a feeling that the person one is talking to, is sitting right next to him, while he might actually be several hundreds of miles away!
